Shared Prayer

Merciful and loving Father You are holy and good, and I praise You for a mercy that never fails. I bring You a prayer for forgiveness of sins, and I do not hide anything from You. Your word says in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So I confess what I have done and what I have left undone, and I turn away from it with my whole heart. I ask You to wash me in the blood of Jesus and make me new. I stand only in the righteousness of Christ, for You are the Lord my righteousness, and not one good work of mine could ever buy this pardon. I count it all joy that conviction brought me back to You instead of leaving me hardened. Teach me to walk in obedience to Your will and to hate the sin You have forgiven. If God be for me, who can be against me, so I will not live under shame any longer. Thank You for forgiveness, for cleansing, and for new life in Your Son. I will rejoice in the Lord always. Amen.
